OUR STORY
Welcome to The Concept of Us, a podcast, brand, and community founded by us, Ahmed El-Walid and Marwa Diaf. Driven by our personal struggles with mental health, we created this platform to raise awareness, provide comfort, and spread love.
We wholeheartedly believe by sharing our stories and inviting others to do the same, we can foster a sense of understanding and unity among all individuals. There is no us versus them here, it's just us.
We are driven by faith and our below values derive from Islam.
OUR VALUES
Community
Community is about connection and belonging. We aim to create a space where individuals can feel supported and understood. Our mission is to promote mutual learning and support, recognizing that we are all in this journey together. We were put on this earth to learn from each other and to be there for each other. The Concept of Us is community.
"O humanity! Indeed, We created you from a male and a female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you may [get to] know one another. Surely the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous among you. Allah is truly All-Knowing, All-Aware." (The Holy Quran 49:13)
Empathy
The Concept of Us was founded on the principle of empathy. We are all going through something, we are all on a different journey, but we are a community. This means that we are there for each other, we listen to each other, and we can share each other’s feelings. Empathy is about understanding and it's about selflessness. If we want to be understood in this world, we, ourselves, need to be more understanding.
Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said, “None of you believes (completely) until he loves for his brother what he loves for himself.” (Sahih Bukhari)
Integrity
Doing the right thing is never easy, but we believe there is a reason for that. Having integrity means standing up for what’s right even if you’re standing alone. The Concept of Us vows to always act with integrity and try to do what’s right. We are all human and mistakes happen, but we remain dedicated to constantly striving towards integrity in all that we do.
"O believers! Stand firm for justice as witnesses for Allah even if it is against yourselves, your parents, or close relatives. Be they rich or poor, Allah is best to ensure their interests. So do not let your desires cause you to deviate [from justice]. If you distort the testimony or refuse to give it, then [know that] Allah is certainly All-Aware of what you do." (The Holy Quran 4:135)
The Concept of Us will always prioritize giving back to the community. We believe that every act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a positive impact in the world. Our hope is to inspire our community to incorporate charity and generosity into their daily lives. We are committed to making a difference by donating a percentage of our profits to charitable causes each month. Together, let's make the world a kinder and more compassionate place.

Pursuit of Knowledge
Knowledge is infinite. We hope by sharing our stories and inviting others to share theirs that we help each other learn. When we are able to listen and learn from each other, we can all thrive and make the world a better place. That’s what The Concept of Us community is all about. We aim to always strive to learn, improve, and share our knowledge with the community.
“Whoever takes a path in search of knowledge, Allah will cause him to walk in one of the paths to Paradise. Indeed the angels will lower their wings in great pleasure with the one who seeks knowledge.” (Sahih Abu Dāwūd)
